D&AD - Part3

This is a rough representation of my library idea for print, this is only a first draft on cumputer to see what my idea might look like. It depicts the extremes of dull, being a black & white library scene with everyone quietly working. Then the MTV virus, being the bright colours, creeping up the girls leg & playing music through her cartoon-like headphones. It is this part of the design that is going to attract the decided market, they would love to see this sort of defacing of old images. It plays slightly with the graffiti generation, even as not all young people take part in it, they can appreciate it more as a type of art as opposed to just vandalism.

After a discussion with Kit & looking at where my ideas for the MTV brief are going, I have seen ways to really push the ideas to the extreme. As I researched into MTV & saw how they like to be seen as rebellious & in your face, I started to think how I could demonstrate this more in my design.

The first thing I have looked at is the fact that all my ideas are intended as print based with some possible web versions of the images. But I am now thinking to really push the boundaries I need to do something that is so extreme & unheard of that people would have no choice but to take notice. One idea I have been thinking is an extension on my library idea, but rather than just be an image of a library with the bright colours flowing round, I could create a projection to shoot over people in a library. At the same time, very loud music would burst out, all this would only be going on for about 5 minutes so as not to cause too much trouble, but enough disruption to attract attention & show the rebellious side of MTV. In fact, this may be a bit much for an ordinary library where the target audience is not present too often, a university/school library may be best.
