  • Tim berners-Lee - invented HTML

  • searchable content
  • less design - more function
  • advanced specalist technology

//Web safe design basics -

  • size (720px x 460px is the standard)

//Useful terms -

  • HTML - hyper text markup language
  • FTP - file transfer protocol
  • Fetch (FTP program) - email the company to get it free as a student
  • CSS - cascading style sheets
  • Java - similar to HTML
  • Meta tags - helps your site get found
  • google only searches the first 50 meta tags
  • the client > designer > viewer > client

//Attracting a client -

  • clearly cost each part of the job (e.g. first page £150, each page after £75, galleries half of normal page)
  • people skim data - make it clear
  • make contact easy
  • 2 click rule - don't click more than twice for what they want
  • first page - give as much info as possible
